At the end of the first two rounds, Delhi’s Karminder Singh leads the championship followed by Hyderabad duo of Anindith Reddy and Ishaan Dodhiwala. Singh has a marginal lead of four points over Reddy while third-placed Dodhiwala is far off with 158 points.
Amongst the junior drivers, it’s Delhi’s Sahil Gahuri leading the pack with a comfortable lead of 30 points over second-placed Rithvik Thomas.
After driving at the KMS, the Buddh circuit will pose a different challenge to the drivers as they will be exposed to a high-speed track which offers a right mix of flowing corners, tight hairpin bend, chicanes and fast straights.
And so, today, the drivers are testing at BIC to get accustomed to the new track. Post the test, they will undergo their second fitness camp tomorrow.
Sirish Vissa, Head of Volkswagen Motorsport India, commented: "We have witnessed a cut-throat competition in the first two rounds and I expect it to get even better in the upcoming rounds at BIC."
"It is exciting to see that there is a fair amount of competition for every position in the championship. Three junior drivers are contending for positions in the top 10 in the championship – this is a sign that the young drivers are picking up very well."
