Kerry Alexander Laguna Seca report

Laguna Seca, CA - Kerry Alexander and the #38 Wickes Lumber/ICI Dulux Paints/Trilithic Racing Camaro, finished a disappointing 28th place in round ten of the BFGoodrich Trans-Am Championship at Laguna Seca.

Alexander and the crew qualified 17th in the field of 34 cars and had made their way to the top ten when a late race caution flag bunched up the field. In the ensuing restart, a backmarker that was a lap down on the field ran into the front end of Alexander's Camaro and broke the steering. Alexander retired from the 45 lap event on lap 36, finishing 28th on the field.

"What a awful way to DNF," said Alexander. "It took about ten laps for the car to really start handling well in the beginning of the race. Once we burned a little fuel off, the car really hooked up and we started making our way through the pack. Our BFGoodrich G-Force T/A radials were really working well today.

I am not sure if Tom Miller, driver of the #47 car was trying to block me so his teammate Chris Neville could catch us, or he was just driving like a fool. He just kept driving into the side of our car all the way down the front stretch."

Round eleven of the BFGoodrich Trans-Am Championship will be held on October 29th at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. Alexander and the team will repair the damage and try again in two weeks.

Speedvision will televise Sunday's race on a taped-delay basis on October 16th at 8:00 p.m.
