Sonoma, Calif. - Anthony Lazzaro, driving the number 36 Motorcity True Performance Viper, qualified eighth for tomorrow's Grand Prix of Sonoma Trans-Am race for the BF Goodrich Cup.
Lazzaro improved on his morning practice time by almost two seconds to qualify eighth with a time of 1:37.163 and a speed of 93.359 mph. Starting eighth in the competitive field is good start to the weekend for the Hickory, North Carolina resident.
"The track changed a lot since the morning practice. It was greasy and tough to get the power down, we have some more time in the car. The guys did a good job of making it more comfortable so all I have to do is go faster," said Lazzaro.
With one more practice left today the team has more time to adjust the Viper. "We have one more practice left today and we are going to focus on a race set-up," continued Lazzaro.
"Anthony did a great job qualifying. It is tough to jump into a new car at an unfamiliar track and go fast, that is a testament to his ability," said Joe Tranchida, owner Cinjo Racing.
