RUHLMAN SETS FASTEST TIME IN FIRST-ROUND PRACTICE AT ROAD AMERICA
ELKHART LAKE, Wis. (Aug. 19, 2005) -- Trans-Am points leader Randy Ruhlman set the fastest time in first-round practice Friday for Sunday's Rumble at the Road at Road America. Ruhlman, driving the No. 49 Preformed Line Products Chevrolet Corvette, turned the 4.048-mile permanent circuit in two minutes, 11.660 seconds (110.685 miles per hour).
Michael Lewis was second fastest in the No. 12 Autocon Engineering Jaguar XKR, ahead of Paul Gentilozzi (No. 1 Jaguar R Performance XKR). Klaus Graf (No. 7 Jaguar R Performance XKR) and Greg Pickett (No. 6 Cytomax/Muscle Milk Jaguar XKR) completed the top five.
Second-round practice is scheduled for 4:45 p.m. CDT today, while qualifying is set for tomorrow at 8:55 a.m. The Rumble at the Road, Round 8 and the penultimate round of the 2005 Trans-Am Championship, is scheduled for Sunday at 10:20 a.m. CDT. Sunday's race will air on a tape-delayed basis, Aug. 28 at 3 p.m. EDT on SPEED Channel.
