WERNER NAMED TO TRANS-AM COUNCIL

DETROIT, Mich. (September 30)--Roger Werner Jr., President and CEO of The Speedvision Network, has been appointed to the Trans-Am Championship Council, announced Trans-Am Council Chairman Les Richter.

"Roger Werner has a proven track record," said Richter. "It was during his tenure at ESPN that the network became the nation's dominant cable TV network, and now he's doing it again in pioneering Speedvision. Roger's decision to make the Trans-Am Championship the cornerstone of Speedvision's motorsports programming shows his commitment to the series and makes him a perfect choice to serve on the Trans-Am Council.

"Speedvision, as the TV rights holder, certainly is a large stake holder in the future direction of the Trans-Am," continued Richter. "Speedvision has and will continue to play a key role in the Trans-Am's growth and similarly, the Trans-Am will continue to play a role in Speedvision's growth and development."

While serving as ESPN president, Werner introduced a wide spectrum of programming, including the ESPN's first NFL coverage, and international events such as the America's Cup and World Cup skiing. Werner left ESPN in 1990 to join cable pioneer Bill Daniels to develop Daniels' diverse start-up businesses.

Based in Stamford, Conn., Speedvision is America's only cable network dedicated to automobile, aviation, and marine information and entertainment. The 24-hour channel offers a wide range of programming--from news and lifestyle products to historical documentaries, racing events and instructional shows. Speedvision has grown to a reach of 10 million households, and is projected to reach 13 million by year's end.

Speedvision is now in its second season of televising the Trans-Am Championship's races on either a live or prime-time re-air basis. Speedvision also broadcasts a majority of the SCCA World Challenge races and several of the Spec Racer Ford Pro Series races, and provides exclusive live coverage of the SCCA Club Racing Valvoline Runoffs.
