Ruhlman practices fourth in final session before race.
Driver Randy Ruhlman returned to the fourth position in the final practice before the 100-mile, 66-lap race on the streets of Trois Rivieres, Quebec Canada.
Ruhlman was testing his race set up with full gas tanks and was able to improve his time by over 0.3 seconds, giving him a final time of 1:04.822.
Ruhlman finished second here last year after qualifying eighth. This year he will be starting in the seventh position. The race will be shown live on SPEED Channel and is set to begin at 1PM EDT.
Randy Ruhlman of Greensboro, NC was the winner of the 2002 BBS Wheels 0x336fst Improved Driver of the Year0x2ba0 This is his 133rd start in Trans-Am. Highlights of the 2002 season include a second at Trois-Rivieres and a 3rd at Miami. Ruhlman finished seventh in overall points in 2002, and is currently seventh in points at the halfway point in the 2003 Trans-Am season after a slow start. He drives the #49 blue and white Chevrolet Corvette for Preformed Line Products/Coyote Closure. His 2003 team is Derhaag Motorsports out of Minneapolis, MN.
Driver Randy Ruhlman Quotes:
"We made a few changes after qualifying to make the car more stable. The conditions were a little cooler for this practice, but the car felt great. It was a little loose, but when it is warmer later, we will be able to move up. The car felt good yesterday with low gas for qualifying and good with full tanks today, so we should be fine at the start and end of the race."
"We would much prefer to be a bit higher on the grid. History here favors the big wreak at Turn One, so I am going to need to watch out. I hope everyone realizes that this is a long race, hard on brakes and drivers, and hard on equipment. If you mess up at the start, it is a long race to watch from the trailer."
"This is always such a great track and race. It takes a lot of thinking and is a real driver's track. I do think it suits my driving style, I love these supe tight, skill test tracks. They definitely are challenging and that is what I like."
