Washington DC - July 20, 2002 - If the heat and the schedule don't kill you, the competition will. With the points chase for the Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup heating up, Stu Hayner took the Trenton Forging / Revolution Motorsports Corvette right to the battle at the inaugural Capital Trans-Am 100 today.

"There were lots of things I would have liked to have different this weekend," said Stu. "But, this is racing... no, this is Trans-Am racing. You don't always get what you want. It's been an uphill battle since our arrival Thursday and I guess I could stand here and wonder how we ended up with a fourth. But, I know how. We've developed an attitude on this team. We're at the half way mark of the season and we're learning how to handle each situation."

"Together, the crew and I are learning how to make the most out of what we have to work with each week, " Stu continued. "It would be easy to complain about what we don't have, or what we need or what should have been. This team doesn't do that. They ask questions. They look for solutions. But, most of all, they dig in and refuse to quit. That's what drives me. It would have been real easy to sit back and complain about the unfortunate breaks this weekend and just fall back and run in the middle of the pack," he said. "But after the effort my guys gave me, I would never settle for that. These guys deserve everything I've got because they give me everything they've got."

Everything Stu had brought in a fourth place finish today. In a race that saw two cautions for a total of 8 laps, Stu kept the #02 Trenton Forging / Revolution Corvette on pace with his steady persistent style. Starting 9th, Stu maintained an average speed of 72.942 mph. His quickest lap came on lap 43 at 1:12.040.

"I tried to keep the leader(s) in sight," said Stu. "But I didn't want to use up all of the car in case we saw a late yellow. In the end, though, I don't think we had anything for them. I'm pretty sure we got everything out of the #02 car today. I can honestly say we left nothing on the table. Given where we started on Friday, I'll happily take this fourth and move on to Quebec."

Stu's fourth place finish today will put him in a tie with Tony Ave [car #53] for fifth place in Championship points.

The Trans-Am Series reconvenes August 4th for the Grand Prix de Trois Rivieres in Quebec Canada.

In association with Trenton Forging, Revolution Motorsports competes as part of the Trans-Am Series for the BF Goodrich Tires Cup. All events are nationally televised on CBS and SPEED channel (formerly Speedvision). The Trans-Am Series is the oldest form of American sports car racing.
