Eric Bunn of Lima, Ohio has been named the United States Auto Club's National Director for Quarter Midgets of America and assumed his new post effective May 7. Eric currently resides in Pendleton, Ind.
The appointment was made by USAC President/CEO John Capels and Eric's duties will include administration of business for QMA, including membership, parts sales and day-to-day operations from the USAC headquarters in Speedway, Ind.
"This is the most exciting thing I've been involved with in motorsports in quite some time," remarked Bunn in regards to the new agreement between USAC and the Quarter Midgets of America. "QMA, its member drivers and families, are the foundation for the future of racing in America. With the addition of QMA to the USAC family, we are truly "The Starting Line for Champions."
Eric brings an extensive motorsports resume to USAC, having been involved in the sport since the late-1960s. A volunteer pit crew member in SCCA, he became involved in the IMSA Camel GT Series and between 1978 and 1996 worked as a mechanic, fuel man, crew chief, public relations and sponsorship manager, as well as a car owner. In mid-1996 he jumped into dirt-track racing as a public relations man and team operator. Two years later he served Miller Motorsports, a championship contender in ASA, as public relations and sponsor relations manager, which led to a fulltime position as Director of Promotions and Advertising for the ASA ACDelco Challenge Series.
The QMA Grand Nationals, showcases for the QMA operations, are scheduled in 2001 at Madera, CA July 1-8 (Western), Oaklane, PA July 22-28 (Eastern) and Terre Haute, Ind. August 12-18 (Dirt).
