Kruseman Flies To Phoenix & Wins CRA Feature!

Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif., who finished second to Josh Wise in the USAC National Sprint feature at Memphis, Tenn. Friday night, flew to Phoenix, Ariz. and won Saturday night's 30-lap Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car feature at Manzanita Speedway.

Kruseman led the final eight laps in his La Villa Restaurant/Agromin Stinger/Priestley after passing Mike Kirby on lap 23. Kirby, a three-time Phoenix CRA winner already this season, finished second ahead of Steve Ostling, Charles Davis, Jr. and Troy Rutherford.

Kruseman also posted the fastest qualifying time and he ranks fifth in the series standings going into a May 22 race at his home track the Ventura Raceway.

Series point leader Rip Williams led the first seven laps and finished eighth, despite a tire change after 17 laps, to emerge with a 26-point cushion over Kirby in the new standings. Kirby then led the next 15 laps before yielding to Kruseman.
