CRA: Perris recap 2004-09-20

Damion Gardner of Concord, Calif. scored his seventh Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car feature win Saturday night, leading the final two laps of the 30-lap race at Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway. The win left him just three points shy of second in the new series standings.

Gardner caught Peter Murphy on the white-flag lap and led to the finish in his Temecula Valley Pipe & Supply/Arizona Race Mart John Boy/Shaver. Murphy finished second after leading the first 28 laps. Charles Davis, Jr., Mike Kirby and Rip Williams completed the "top-five" at the checkered flag.

Williams and Kirby continue to lead the standings going into this Saturday night's race at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz. A 30-lap feature is on tap at the 1/ 2-mile dirt track where the Western World Open is scheduled November 4-6. Williams posted the fastest qualifying time for Saturday night's race at Perris.
