CRA SPRINTS BACK TO THE PAS SATURDAY; ARIZONA YIELDS CRA 1STS FOR HOCKETT & SHERMAN

Cory Kruseman of Ventura, Calif. returns to Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway Saturday as the point leader in the new USAC/CRA Sprint Car standings. Kruseman is three points ahead of Damion Gardner after the two were involved in a last-lap crash Saturday at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz.

Jeremy Sherman of Phoenix emerged with his first USAC/CRA victory when the two point leaders tangled and flipped in the final turn of the 30-lap race while battling for the lead! Neither driver was injured and Kruseman was able to restart, finishing one position ahead of Gardner. Sherman and the Jake Sourant entry were trailed at the checkered flag by Danny Sheridan, Rickie Gaunt, Blake Miller and Mike Spencer.

Jesse Hockett of Warsaw, Mo. earned his first USAC/CRA Sprint victory Friday at USA Race Park in Tucson, Ariz., leading the last seven laps after passing Brad Sweet on lap 24. Hockett and his Jim Massey entry were followed by fast qualifier Kruseman, Casey Shuman, Spencer and Miller.

Feature lap leaders at Tucson included Seth Wilson, Sweet and Hockett and at Phoenix included Charles Davis Jr., Gardner and Sherman. Gardner's fast qualifying effort at Phoenix was his 17th of the season.
