Scott Takes Carolina/Virginia Earl's Title
Chase Scott is the 2004 Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier Champion in USAC's Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Series. He paced the series qualifying again Saturday night at the series finale in South Boston, Va. and finished a massive 60 points ahead of qualifying runner-up Aron Oakley.
Chris Rahe is headed for the California Ford Focus Earl's title, leading Josh Lakatos by 43 points after qualifying fourth at Bakersfield, Calif. Saturday night behind fast qualifier Bobby McGowan.
Earl's points will also be distributed this week in races at Perris, Calif. (National Sprints) and Ventura, Calif. (California Focus and Western Midgets). Levi Jones, Josh Wise and Jay Drake are locked in a tight Earl's point race in the National Sprints, while Jerome Rodela leads the Western Midget qualifying standings.
Points are traditionally awarded at each USAC event based on an international system awarding the top-six qualifiers with points in the following scale: 1st-9, 2nd-6, 3rd-4, 4th-3, 5th-2, 6th-1.
Each USAC National, Western and Ford Focus Midget Car Earl's Plumbing FQ Champion will be honored at USAC's Champions Night ceremony in Indianapolis in December. The National and Western FQ champs will receive $5,000 each, while the Ford Focus FQ champs will each receive $1,500.
