WISE TO DRIVE FOR CARL EDWARDS/ CURB-AGAJANIAN/ R.E. RACING WITH TEAMMATES HOCKETT AND HAGAR AT THE HOOSIER HUNDRED
MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Carl Edwards/ Curb-Agajanian/ R.E. Racing team announced today that Josh Wise would drive the No. 199 Curb Records/ Red Line Oil Silver Crown car in pursuit of the 2009 K & N USAC Silver Crown Championship Series points championship.
"I am pumped up about driving for the No. 199 entry for the rest of the season," said Wise. "I think we will perform well this season. I know it is going to be good equipment and good engines. I am grateful to Mike Curb for stepping up and helping out with the deal."
"We are excited to add Josh Wise to our stable of drivers," added team manager Chris Santucci. "We believe we have a good chance to win the championship. We are also happy to welcome back Curb Records as a sponsor. Mike Curb and Curb Records have been a part of champion driver's careers and we hope to add another one to their roster."
Josh Wise will pursue the elusive USAC Triple Crown Championship driving the No. 199. The California native won the USAC National Midget Series championship in 2005 and the USAC National Sprint Car Series championship in 2006. He finished second in the USAC Silver Crown points his rookie year.
"Looking back at my career in USAC, I have accomplished everything I have set out to accomplish except for winning a USAC Silver Crown championship and missed that narrowly so this is hopefully a chance for redemption."
Wise will be joined Friday night at the Hoosier Hundred by teammates Jesse Hockett and Derek Hagar. Hockett, who is tied for the lead in the USAC Silver Crown points race with Bud Kaeding, will pilot the No. 991 Carl Edwards RE Technologies entry sponsored by Roush Yates Engines and Red Line Oil. Hagar who is 5th in points will drive the No. 6 Klatt RE Technologies prepared entry.
Jesse Hockett finished second in the season opener at Manzanita after starting on the pole. Derek Hagar finished 5th and Josh Wise 8th. Josh Wise is the most recent winner of the Hoosier Hundred as the last two years for the event have been rained out.
The 2009 Hoosier Hundred at the Indiana State Fairgrounds is set for this Friday. Johnny Parsons owns the official 1-lap track qualifying mark of 114.726 mph, set in 1995.
