FF: California series Irwindale preview

Todd Hunsaker of Chino Hills, Calif. enters this Saturday night's USAC "tripleheader" at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway with a 112-point lead in the South standings and with only 72 points available he is assured of maintaining the lead after the race.

The defending USAC California Ford Focus Midget Car Champion has posted the fastest qualifying time in both previous 2003 Irwindale outings and he finished second in April and fourth in June.

Ryan Kaplan and Josh Lakatos are split by only nine points in their battle for second in points. Lakatos won the June race and Kaplan had a third at the 1/3-mile oval in April.

A 20-lap feature on the 1/3-mile pavement accompanies USAC Western Sprint Car and Western Midget Car racing on the 1/2-mile in the "tripleheader" event.
