FF: Carolina/Virginia Hickory race notes

Sboro, Hartsell Split Hickory 20-Lappers

Michael Sboro of Charlotte, N.C. and Brandon Hartsell of Fairlawn, Ohio scored 20-lap feature victories in Saturday's "AfordableSpeed.com Twin 20s" at Hickory (N.C.) Motor Speedway, the opening events of USAC's brand-new Carolina/Virginia Ford Focus Midget Car Series, presented by Calico Coatings.

Sboro, a 16-year-old high school student competing in his first-ever Midget race, led all 20 laps of the first 20-lapper to beat Rex Norris III, Brice Kenyon, Chase Scott and Hartsell. In race two, Troy Cline led the first two laps before yielding to Hartsell, who led the rest of the way for the win. Cline, the winner of last October's USAC Sprint Car race at The Dirt Track at Charlotte Motor Speedway, finished second, followed by Scott, Sboro and Norris.

Sboro emerged from the two races with the series point lead, four points ahead of Hartsell going into an April 2 race at Tri-County Motor Speedway in Hudson, N.C.
