Brice Kenyon of Lebanon, Ind., son of 7-time USAC National Midget Car Champion Mel Kenyon, is among drivers expected to compete in Saturday's USAC Ford Focus Midget Car "non-points" race at Big Daddy's South Boston Speedway in South Boston, VA.
The race is part of the track's big "Bailey's 300" weekend finale and the Focus Midgets follow a 15-minute Saturday warm-up session at 11 am with a 15-lap feature event, scheduled for a 2:15 pm start.
Kenyon, whose father owns more USAC National Midget Car feature victories than any other driver in history (111), finished sixth in the 2003 Indiana Ford Focus Midget Car standings, posting a dozen "top-10" finishes, including a second on the pavement at Anderson, Ind. and a third on the dirt at Bloomington, Ind.
Jordan Noblitt of Columbus, Ind., who scored his initial USAC feature victory in his second-ever start in this year's Indiana series, is also among drivers expected top compete Saturday, as is Brandon Hartsell of Fairlawn, Ohio, winner of an Indiana series race at Plymouth, Ind. during 2003. Noblitt is one of USAC's new "young guns," just 16 years of age!
Ryan Scott, of Concord, NC, who finished 10th in USAC's 2000 and 2001 National Midget Car Series standings and won a National Midget race at Belleville, Kans. last year, is also slated to compete in the "special event." He is the son of Hank Scott, whose company, Real Race Cars, Inc. of Concord, NC, will become a business partner with USAC as the official USAC/Ford Focus engine service and parts center for next year's brand-new Carolina Ford Focus Midget Car Series.
