SATURDAY FOCUS RACES AT ANDERSON, IN & ROUGEMONT, NC; FASS, SAVAGE & RIETHMEYER WIN; QUINONES USAC'S 16TH FEMALE WINNER; RAIN FORCES MOUNT LAWN CANCELATION
USAC's Indiana Ford Focus Series debuts this week and the Carolina Ford Focus Series makes its first appearance at Orange County Speedway in Rougemont, N.C.
Four drivers tasted victory in Ford Focus action last week but rain forced cancellation of Wednesday's scheduled race at the Mount Lawn Speedway in New Castle, Ind. The Indiana Focus Series returns to Mount Lawn this Wednesday to open its 2007 campaign with a 30-lap race. James Robertson of Indianapolis, Ind. won last year's Indiana title.
Bradley Riethmeyer of Austin, Texas leads the Carolina Richard Petty Driving Experience Focus competitors to the Rougemont oval Saturday, leading Tanner Swanson by nine points in the new standings. They finished 1-2 in last Saturday's 35-lapper at Franklin County Speedway in Callaway, Va., Riethmeyer and his Tracy Trotter Beast leading all 35 laps to beat Swanson, Andre Villareal, Rick Fedrizzi and Michael Mohelski.
Ginny Quinones of Pen Argyl, Pa. became USAC's 16th different female feature winner in history Saturday, leading all 20 laps to win the Northeast Ford Focus opener at the Waterford (Conn.) Speedbowl in her father's Hawk. Ryan Osborne, P.J. Stergios, Jeff Abold and Jon Seaman rounded out the "top-five." The Northeast series resumes action May 26 at Star Speedway in Epping, N.H.
Nic Faas of Huntington Beach, Calif. is back atop the California Pavement standings after winning Saturday's 30-lapper at Lucas Oil I-10 Speedway in Blythe, Calif. He led all 30 laps in his Beast to beat Tim Skoglund, Tom Dyer, Mike Atkinson and Mike Maier. The California Pavement Series continues with a May 26 event at the All American Speedway in Roseville, Calif.
Tim Savage of Herriman, Utah is the early leader in the 2007 Auto Trader USAC Utah Developmental Ford Focus Series after winning Saturday's series opener at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City. Savage passed Jeff Kelley on lap two and led the final 14 of 15 laps in his Champion Motorsports Stealth to beat Kelley, Billy Cox, Trevor Miran and Bob Brewer. The Utah Series continues May 12 at RMR.
