SLC, IRWINDALE & GRUNDY COUNTY HOSTS FOCUSES; FEATURES TO DYER, FEHRMAN, ABOLD & CLOUSER

USAC Ford Focus racing continues at a fever pitch this week, with races slated in Salt Lake City, Utah, Irwindale, Calif. and Morris, Ill. Series involved in this week's action are the Utah Developmental, California Pavement and USAC/UMARA.

Tom Dyer of Corte Madera, Calif. sliced Tim Skoglund's California Pavement point lead to just 16 points by winning Saturday night's 30-lap "Open Wheel Madness" race at Altamont Motorsports Park in Tracy. He took the lead in his K & N Engineering/Maier Racing Beast on lap 12 from Skoglund and led the rest of the way to beat Skoglund, Beau DeBard, Nic Faas and Daniel Adler. Dyer also led the first seven laps of the race. Saturday's race is at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway.

Mario Clouser of Auburn, Ill. is 47 points ahead of Mark Wachter in the new USAC/UMARA standings after winning Saturday's 25-lap race at Grundy County Speedway in Morris, Ill. The series continues this Saturday at Morris. Caitlin Shaw led the first 15 laps and finished second last Saturday, ahead of Chett Gehrke, Tyler Irwin and Jordan Pennington.

Tim Savage of Herriman, Utah will try to become the first driver in USAC Ford Focus history to win five consecutive series events when the Auto Trader Utah Developmental series continues Saturday at Rocky Mountain Raceways in Salt Lake City. He leads Jeff Kelley and Billy Cox by 39 and 41 points respectively.

Other USAC Ford Focus action last week found Eric Fehrman of Greensburg, Ind. and Jeff Abold of Pennellville, N.Y. in victory lane. Fehrman led all 30 laps in his Del Taco/Indy Concrete Beast to win Wednesday's Midwest/Indiana race at Plymouth (Ind.) Speedway, while Abold paced the final nine laps of Saturday's 25-lap Northeast feature at the Chemung (N.Y.) Speedrome in his Team Abold Racing/A & P Automotive Hawk. Trailing Fehrman were James Robertson, Gehrke, Irwin and Andy Nock. Following Abold were Jon Seaman, P.J. Stergios, Ryan Osborne and Sean Carman, Aaron Wall led the first 16 laps at Chemung.
