HMIEL WINS SECOND USAC SPRINT CAR RACE AT O'REILLY RACEWAY PARK IN 2010
INDIANAPOLIS (July 1 , 2010) The 19th race of the 2010 USAC Sprint Car series took to the O'Reilly Raceway Park oval on Thursday night and the fans were treated to another dominating performance by Shane Hmiel.
Hmiel started the 30-lap feature in sixth and was able to work his way through traffic during the early laps.
On the 10th lap the red flag came out for an incident involving Bobby East and Blaze Martin and Hmiel sat in second behind Jerry Coons Jr. When the racing resumed Hmiel continued his mastery of the oval as he was able to jump into the lead before the start of the 11th lap. Hmiel, coming off his win here on June 10th, was able to quickly put distance between he and the second place car of Coons.
Hmiel was able to stretch out the lead and held on for his second win at the track this season and the only driver to win in all three of the USAC divisions this season. He was also the quick time setter of the night.
"The car was good again and we had the same set up as in June," said Hmiel in victory lane. "I got a really good race car and we have to run more pavement Sprint Car races and it is because of the fans that we do this and we love it."
USAC returns to the O'Reilly Raceway Park oval on June 22nd as both the Midget and Silver Crown Series will take to the track during the Kroger SpeedFest weekend. Tickets are on sale now at www.NHRATix.com
