Jerry Coons Jr. to Drive for R.E. Technologies Racing in 2005

Memphis, Tenn. -- November 30, 2004 -- Roger Johnson, owner of the R.E. Technologies Racing Team and Team Manager Chris Santucci announced Jerry Coons Jr. as the team's primary driver today. Coons will pilot the No. 35 USAC Silver Crown™ car for the full 2005 season.

"Jerry is a very talented and experienced driver," said Santucci. "We are delighted to have him behind the wheel for 2005."

"We are really excited about the possibilities this season with Jerry," stated team owner, Roger Johnson. "Together, our team has developed to where we can run competitively with anyone else out there."

Over the past few years, Coons and the team has recorded three poles, seven top five finishes and thirteen top ten finishes.

"I am excited to be back again with the R.E. Technologies Racing team for the 2005 season," stated Coons. "I believe that Chris, the team and myself are a good fit."

Last season in only four outings together, the team started on the front row twice. Coons drove for several owners in 2004, scoring poles at Richmond, Va. and Springfield, Ill. The Arizona native led and recorded top three finishes at those same tracks. He also finished tied for third place in the Earl's Plumbing Fast Qualifier award despite running a partial schedule.

In 2001, Coons took home the "Most Improved Driver Award" while driving for R.E. Technologies Racing.

The R.E. Technologies Racing team begins its sixth full year in the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series with high expectations. With a veteran driver and crew returning the team expects to contend for the championship.

"In the past few years, we have led races and been up front," said Coons. "With a veteran crew returning, I believe we have a good chance of winning a race and being in contention for the championship at the end of the year."

"We expect to perform well right out of the box this year," said Johnson. "There is no doubt that Jerry is the contender to beat on dirt. I believe that Jerry is in a position now were he could win several races and contend for the championship."

The team will also field a second car at select races this season.
