STOCKBRIDGE, Ga., March 3, 2003 -- Jimmy Kite has been signed by Ron and Kevin Bloomstran to drive the #5 Westcon Racing/ Westcon Elevator/ Bloomer Engines-Beast for the pavement portion of the 2003 United States Auto Club (USAC) Silver Crown Series. The Stockbridge, Georgia resident drove for the Bloomstran family-owned team in four Silver Crown races in 2002. The new Silver Crown season is scheduled to begin with the prestigious Copper World Classic on March 23 at Phoenix International Raceway (PIR). Kite won his first Silver Crown race at the event in 1997 on his way to becoming that year's USAC Rookie of the Year in Silver Crown.

"I can't tell you how glad I am to be back with the Westcon Elevator Racing Team in 2003," enthused Kite. "We were starting to come into our own at the end of the season last year and Kevin has made a big commitment to the program for 2003. The competition will be tough, like it always is in Silver Crown, but I think the Bloomer engine and the Beast chassis should be an excellent pair. We have some of my favorite tracks on the schedule and I am looking forward to racing and having fun with the guys on the Westcon team."

Bloomstran looks forward to the season with Kite behind the wheel of his red and yellow racer; "Last year our focus was to improve upon our baselines and jell as a team. Jimmy played a vital role in our team's successful achievement of those goals. The progress that we made last year, coupled with the fact that our entire team is returning for the '03 season, should enable us to be one of the most competitive teams this year."

Kite and Westcon Racing will have their first taste of the 2003 combination at a test planned for PIR on March 10.

Kite began racing quarter-midgets at the age of eight and worked his way up through mini-sprints, USAC midgets, sprint cars and Silver Crown cars to the IRL IndyCar Series in 1997. He is a five-time national champion in various open-wheel series with countless victories. He has a career total of 22 IndyCar Series event starts and $1,232,000 in career IRL earnings. He has been widely considered one of the IndyCar Series' most popular drivers since his rookie season.
