CARL EDWARDS/ R.E. TECHNOLOGIES RACING PREPARES FOR 100th FEATURE START

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- September 27, 2006 -- Peter Shepherd and the Carl Edwards/ R.E. Technologies Racing team are planning on a successful run in the team's 100th USAC Silver Crown start at Kansas Speedway this Saturday. The team began competing full time in the USAC Silver Crown Series presented by K&N in 2000.

"It would be awesome to get the team a win in their hundredth start," said Peter Shepherd. "It is just an honor to drive in the team's hundredth start. We are going to do the best we can and give it every thing we have got."

USAC Silver Crown™ rookie Peter Shepherd is searching for his first win in the series. Shepherd finished third at Iowa Speedway two weeks ago and became the highest finishing Canadian ever in Silver Crown competition when he finished second at Chicagoland Speedway in July.

"It would be nice to fulfill every spot on the podium by the end of the year," smiled Shepherd. "We are missing that one big spot. At Chicagoland we were running as fast as the leader. The guys have given me great cars that can win. We just have to seal the deal and win one of these things."

Last weekend at Eldora Speedway, Jerry Coons Jr. drove the No. 199 to its second podium finish in a row extending the team's points lead over the No. 26 team by 34 points in the battle for third place in the owner's points standings. Peter Shepherd knows that a good finish at the final race at Kansas will give the team their best owner's points finish in the history of the team.

"Aaron Pierce is right behind us and is knocking on the door so it puts pressure on us to finish up at the top," said the Canadian driver. "We know we can win the race so we have got to do our best to stay in front of him."

In addition to the pressure of the points race and the pressure to win, Peter Shepherd will also have the eyes of his employer, Roush Racing and the NASCAR fans on him. The USAC Silver Crown race immediately follows the NASCAR Busch Series race Saturday at Kansas Speedway.

"The Busch Series race is going to be great and will be a hard one to follow," said Peter Shepherd. "I think the fans will be impressed by the show that we will put on. I have a feeling that this is going to be a good race. All of the guys know that it is the last pavement race of the year so they are going to bring their best stuff and make sure that every bolt is tight and that their car will perform it's best. Kansas Speedway is a great facility to finish the season off at. Every driver has an equal shot at winning. We just hope to be the one in victory lane."

CARL EDWARDS/ R.E. TECHNOLOGIES RACING'S 100th START

Carl Edwards R.E. Technologies Racing began competing full time in the USAC Silver Crown Series in 2000. Since then the team's driver roster has looked like a who's who in racing. Tyler Walker and Peter Shepherd are tied for second most podium finishes for the team at two apiece. Jerry Coons Jr, who has started more, races for the team than anyone else has three poles and six podium finishes.
