TEAM HOPES FOR SMILES AT THE MILWAUKEE MILE

Memphis, Tenn. -- July 19, 2005 -- Jerry Coons Jr. and the R.E. Technologies Racing team head to Milwaukee this weekend in search of the team's first win. The team has dealt with gremlins early on in the season but driver Jerry Coons Jr. believes that the team has turned the corner.

"I think we have found the problem," said Coons. "We had a good test and I am looking forward to this weekend."

The team tested at Indianapolis Raceway Park on July 11th to prepare for the J.D. ByRider 100 there on August 4th.

The Milwaukee Mile will give drivers in the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series something different this weekend.

"Milwaukee is unlike any other track we visit," said Coons. "Unlike Phoenix, Pikes Peak or Richmond, it is flat and quite different from anything else we run."

COONS IS IN HIGH GEAR

Jerry Coons Jr. will be a busy man this week. In addition to his duty as driver of the R.E. Technologies Racing No.35 Silver Crown™ car and piloting the No.11 Wilke-Pak Motorsports USAC National Midget Series car at Milwaukee, he will travel with a large group of USAC drivers that will be competing in Indiana Sprint Week.

Coons will hop in the No. 69 Hoffman Auto Racing sprint car tonight at Putnamville. Coons will then head to Lawrenceburg Thursday night and then travel to Milwaukee Friday morning. He will then fly to Terre Haute with other USAC competitors on Friday night then back to Milwaukee on Saturday for the USAC National Midget Series and USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Series features in Milwaukee.

"I have got a real busy schedule these next few weeks," said Jerry Coons. "We are out here to race and get all of the experience we can. The more races the better."

The tour will not end there as the Belleville Midget Nationals are just around the corner.

COONS 9th IN MIPS DEBUT

Jerry Coons Jr. finished 9th in his first start in a Indy Racing League® Menards Infiniti Pro Series™ car last weekend at Nashville Super Speedway. The Arizona native started 10th and moved up as high as 6th passing several more experienced drivers before spinning with only one lap to go. He finished 9th.

"Right now I am taking every opportunity that I can and getting in every car and learning and see what kind of doors open up," said Coons. "You have to be at the right time at the right place with the right people and part of that is doing this."

Coons drove for co-owners Ron Hemelgarn and Roger Johnson. Johnson also owns R.E. Technologies Racing.
