Kirby Again At Perris; CRA Heads To Manzy

Mike Kirby of Torrance, Calif. scored his third Perris (Calif) Auto Speedway victory of the 2004 Valvoline USAC/CRA Sprint Car campaign Saturday night at the 1/2-mile dirt oval. The victory solidified his third-place ranking in the series points going into this Saturday night's races at Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Ariz.

Kirby caught Jeremy Sherman on the fourth lap and was never again headed as he and his Glen Crossno ITI Performance/Sander Engineering TCR/Downing beat series leader Rip Williams, Damion Gardner, Tony Jones and Gary W. Howard.

Williams, the fastest qualifier, emerged with a 27-point advantage over Gardner and 45-point lead over Kirby going into Saturday's Phoenix race. A 30-lapper is scheduled on the 1/2-mile dirt Manzanita oval.
