"USAC CHAMPIONSHIP TWINS" GO UNDER LIGHTS THIS SATURDAY, JUNE 17 AT RIR FEATURING TRUE VALUE SILVER CROWN AND FORMULA FORD 2000 CARS IN 2 RACES

RICHMOND, VA - The United States Auto Club sanctions its first ever event in Virginia when Paul Sawyer and Richmond International Raceway present the USAC CHAMPIONSHIP TWINS this Saturday, June 17.

Highlighted by 8:00 pm twin feature races for both the True Value Silver Crown Championship Series and United States Formula Ford 2000 Series on the same night, the USAC CHAMPIONSHIP TWINS includes a full day of practice, qualifying and last chance races beginning at 9:30 a.m.

The 134-lap Silver Crown finale will showcase races breathtaking action over RIR's "D"-shaped 3/4-mile, with 1450-lb, methanol fueled open wheelers turning three abreast nose to tail laps at over 130 mph.

Rear power and ground effects on the Indy style Formula Ford 2000 cars equal turn hugging side by side racing at full throttle around Richmond's unique layout with 14 degree banked turns, 8 degree banked "D" frontstretch and 2 degree banked 860 foot long backstretch.

With 48 True Value Silver Crown entrants contesting the night's main event, star driver Tony Stewart of Rushville, Indiana will attempt to become only the second driver since the series began in 1971 to score a USAC "TRIPLE" - winning back-to-back races in USAC National Midget, Sprint Car, and Silver Crown competition. He won the June 9th Midget race at Terre Haute Action Track and scored in his Sprint Car the following evening, June 10th at Indianapolis Raceway Park.

With grandstand admission just $15 and accompanied children 12 and under free, RIR expects a huge USAC CHAMPIONSHIP TWINS fan turnout.
