Series returns to Indianapolis Speedrome in 2010

INDIANAPOLIS SPEEDROME TO HOST USAC "MIDWEEK MANIA" REGIONALS

USAC Regional Midget racing returns to the Indianapolis Speedrome in 2010, featuring competition for four different championships. The track which hosted the inaugural ESPN telecast nearly a quarter-century ago will feature Regional Midget, Ford Focus, Junior Focus and .25 Midget competition on a 1/5-mile paved oval which has seen its share of thrills through USAC's half-century of operation.

Beginning with a May 26 race during the week prior to the Indianapolis 500, the track will host "Midweek Mania" with six race dates planned. June 2, 9, 23 and 30 are also targeted, as well as July 7, which is ".25 Midget Night."

All races at the Speedrome will be streamed live on USAC's website, usacracing.com, providing unprecedented coverage for participants in USAC's developmental racing series.

"This is certainly exciting for all of us," says USAC Developmental Racing Director James Spink, in making the announcement. "The Speedrome has long been a USAC supporter and host and we look forward to renewing the Wednesday Night concept which enjoyed popularity in the past. The battles for championships should be intense and it's a great place for the family to convene and enjoy our sport."

Beginning with Gene Hartley's USAC National Midget victory in 1958, the Speedrome has hosted a total of 418 USAC races, the last in 2004. A total of 128 drivers have tasted USAC victory there, including four ladies, with Michael Lang, a seven-time USAC champion, posting a record 53 wins!
