"HALL OF FAME CLASSIC" SATURDAY-SUNDAY AT ANGELL PARK
Tracy Hines' quest for USAC's Triple Crown continues this weekend at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wisc. as the USAC Mopar National Midget Series and the Badger Midget Series combine for the annual "National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame Classic."
Hines leads the point standings and a National Midget title would complete the cycle for him, having already won USAC's Silver Crown and National Sprint Car crowns earlier in his career. He would become only the fifth driver to win all three titles in a career, joining Tony Stewart, Pancho Carter, Dave Darland and J.J. Yeley.
Hines holds a 33-point edge over former series champion Bobby East entering Saturday and Sunday night's races at Angell Park. Each night of racing concludes with a 30-lap feature event.
Defending two-time USAC National Midget champ Jerry Coons Jr., also hoping to land the USAC "Triple Crown," is also among entries at Sun Prairie. Coons leads the USAC K & N Silver Crown standings and is second in the current USAC National Sprint Car points.
Hines' teammate, Levi Jones, who will also compete at Sun Prairie, is the 2008 USAC National Sprint Car point leader.
Coons won last year's Saturday "Hall of Fame" feature, while Michael Pickens won last year's Sunday night main event.
