WISE LEADS SILVER CROWN SERIES TO RICHMOND AFTER "SUMAR CLASSIC 100" VICTORY AT TERRE HAUTE

The "Richmond Times-Dispatch 100" is next up for the USAC Weld Racing Silver Crown Championship Series and Josh Wise, one of NASCAR Nextel Cup veteran Tony Stewart's drivers, is atop the series standings.

Wise, of Riverside, Calif., captured Saturday night's First Financial "Sumar Classic 100" at Terre Haute, Ind. and holds a 15-point lead over defending champion Dave Steele entering the June 24-25 Richmond weekend activities.

Wise put the Tony Stewart Racing Mopar/Vital Express Eagle/Mopar in the lead on lap 48 and led the rest of the way on the 1/2-mile dirt Terre Haute oval. He led Brian Tyler, Dave Darland, Jon Stanbrough and Jesse Hockett to the checkered flag in the race slowed by 10 cautions. Wise started on the pole.

Tyler came from 20th starting position to take second in the closing laps. Darland led the first 43 laps of the race, while Jay Drake, Wise's Tony Stewart Racing teammate, led the next four laps before yielding to Wise.

The Richmond race concludes a USAC "doubleheader" on the 3/4-mile oval, held in conjunction with the SunTrust Indy Challenge IRL event. The Valvoline USAC National Sprint Cars compete at Richmond June 24 and the 100-mile Weld Racing Silver Crown race is June 25.
