Ruppel Lets It All Hang Out at Crandon - Two Podiums
Finishes Second in Super Stock Championship

Chetek, WI (September 8, 2010) - Eric Ruppel knew he had to have a perfect weekend at "The Big House" to win the 2010 TORC Super Stock Truck Championship. The battle between the "Titans of Super Stock," Scott Beauchamp, Mitch Dorr, and Eric Ruppel saw the season long points battle go right down to the final laps of the final round before the Champion was crowned. Ultimately, Eric Ruppel finished the season in the runner-up spot, a handful of points behind 2010 Champion Scott Beauchamp.

The weekend for Eric Ruppel and his #837 Phil's Inc. Art Carr Transmission Halama Synthetics BFGoodrich Tires Ford F-150 began with Round 11 on Saturday afternoon. The white and blue Ford came out of the first turn in fourteenth position out of the nineteen truck field. The conservative start quickly began a charge to the front. As the field headed into the Argonne Corner for the first time, Eric was already in fifth place. By the end of the second of nine laps, the Phil's Inc. Ford was in second place looking, the perfect position for a second half charge for the lead.

Unfortunately, on the lap before the mandatory halfway caution, the power steering failed. This meant Eric would have to somehow manhandle the truck the remaining five laps with very limited steering capability. When the field went back to green flag racing, Eric did all he could to hold his position, but the steering problem was too much to overcome as Scott Beauchamp made the pass for second place. At the finish it was Mitch Dorr - first, Scott Beauchamp-second, and a very tired Eric Ruppel -third.

The finishing order between the top three Super Stock competitors really made for an even tighter race for the championship as the teams prepared for the final race of the season, Sunday's Round 12.

Overnight, crew chief, Kent Kramer replaced the leaking hose and the steering box and had the truck race ready early Sunday morning.

The final race of the year had Eric and Scott Beauchamp racing for the win from start to finish. Rupe put all the Wolverine horsepower through the Art Carr Transmission and into the BFGoodrich Tires looking to find a way around Beauchamp, but Beauchamp covered his every move. At the finish it was Scott Beauchamp, first, and Eric Ruppel, second.

The win gave Beauchamp the title with Eric in second place overall. This was the second year in a row, the two competitors and friends, finished one and two. Back in 2008, Ruppel took the championship with Beauchamp as the runner-up.

"We gave it all we had this weekend," commented Eric Ruppel. "I let it all hang out this afternoon, and came up short. It really came down to who had the lower finish during the season and that was the difference in the championship. Congrats to Scott. We're good friends on and off the track. So racing him for the championship is really cool. My team, Kramer, Scott, Jerry, Ewert, and everyone that helps out at the track never gave up. No matter the situation, nobody gets down; we all have a good time back at the shop and at the track. I'm fortunate to have these guys."
