Taylor Takes Third at the Big House - Looks Forward to 2011

Belvidere, IL (September 7, 2010) - The final rounds of racing in the 2010 Traxxas TORC Series presented by AMSOIL in Crandon, Wisconsin, saw Scott Taylor show why he's a fan favorite at "The Big House." The #8 Miller Welders Mastercraft Safety BFGoodrich Tire Ford F-150 ran in the top three all weekend long bringing his loyal supporters to their feet throughout the weekend.

The weather for the forty-first edition of off-road racing in Crandon did not cooperate on Friday. The constant drizzle for the morning's parade through downtown turned into a steady downpour for the remainder of the day. This cancelled practice and qualifying for the Inaugural AMSOIL Cup. Then Saturday's practice and Round 11 qualifying was also cancelled to allow the track workers more time to get the 1.7 mile layout ready for racing.

Saturday Round 11

The clear skies brought unseasonably cold temperatures to the Northwoods, but Scott had his RoushYates powered Ford all warmed up and ready to take the other twelve PRO-2 trucks that lined up for the land rush start.

Quickly the blue Miller Welders Ford moved into fifth place and held the position going into the mandatory halfway caution lap. On the restart, Scott quickly made a couple of passes to move into a podium spot. With two laps to go, Scott was stalking eventual winner #48 Ricky Johnson, when the transmission failed ending his day early.

Even after the early retirement, Scott was all smiles when he made a few comments back at the team transporter. "The Miller Welders Ford was really working great today. I was real comfortable with the truck, and it showed today. Too bad our day ended a little early. I think that last lap would have been a dog fight with Ricky."

Sunday Round 12

The final round of the 2010 TORC season saw a confident Scott Taylor looking to land on the podium. The land rush start had the #8 BFG Ford move into third place by the middle of the first lap. The top three trucks in the race held their spot throughout the entire nine lap race. The third place finish really gave Taylor Racing a boost of confidence as they prepared for the final race of the weekend, the AMSOIL Cup.

AMSOIL Cup

The annual PRO-2WD versus PRO-4x4 showdown race is now named the AMSOIL Cup. In the past, Scott Taylor has won this prestigious event twice and the thought of winning number three and being the first driver to have their name engraved on the AMSOIL Cup is enough incentive to enter this event, but the winner would also take home over $30,000.

The land rush start saw Scott Taylor immediately move into third place, but the track was very slippery during the first few laps, allowing the PRO-4x4 competitors to close in on the top three racers by the fourth lap. The Miller Mastercraft Ford ran a very uneventful AMSOIL Cup race finishing in sixth place. The early condition of track was a major factor in the finishing order of the race. All three podium finishers were PRO-4x4 trucks.

"This weekend our team brought the A-game," noted Scott Taylor. "In fact the truck has been performing great since Chicagoland. We only had one podium finish this weekend, but I know this truck and this team will continue to run at the front of the pack in 2011."

If anyone wondered if Scott Taylor would be back behind the wheel of the #8 PRO-2 in 2011, the question was answered with a resounding YES.
