John Starks of Puyallup, Wash. gave the Evergreen State a clean sweep of USAC WorldCom Midget Car activity over the weekend, taking Saturday night's 100-lap Western feature event at Carson Tahoe Champion Speedway in Carson City, Nev. Fellow Washington driver Kasey Kahne of Enumclaw won Sunday night's "Night Before the 500" National feature event at Indianapolis (Ind.) Raceway Park.

Starks trailed Alex Harris for the first 66 laps before leading the final 34 in his Starks Brothers Logging/Wholesale Truck Parts/Blue Dot Fabrication Gaerte. Harris finished second, ahead of Sleepy Tripp, Chuck Gurney, Jr. and Glen Carson.

Danny Ebberts finished sixth and takes a 27-point lead over Harris into this Saturday night's USAC Western WorldCom Midget Car/TQ Midget Car "doubleheader" at the Santa Maria (Calif.) Speedway. A 20-lap TQ and 30-lap Midget Car feature are planned on the 1/3-mile dirt oval.

Walt Johnson leads Todd Hunsaker by three points in the current TQ Midget Car standings going into Saturday's races at Santa Maria.
