J.J. Yeley of Phoenix, Ariz. became USAC's fourth "Triple Crown" driving champion Saturday night, joining Tony Stewart as the only drivers in history to win all three USAC National driving titles in one season!

Yeley locked up the USAC National Midget crown at Tucson (Ariz.) Raceway Park, finishing third in the 40-lap "Old Pueblo Classic" feature. In addition to he and Stewart (who swept all three titles in 1995), Dave Darland and Pancho Carter also own USAC career "Triple Crowns," although their titles were not all achieved in a single season.

Yeley will try to extend his all-time USAC single-season victory record to 25 next Thursday night in the nationally-televised (Speed Channel, live) 63rd Mopar "Turkey Night Grand Prix" at the Irwindale (Calif.) Speedway. The racing program will air at 11 pm ET.

Tracy Hines, who was chasing Yeley for the 2003 USAC National Midget title, won the Tucson Midget race, leading the final 13 laps in his OXI-Clean Team Mopar Beast/Mopar. Bobby East, who led the first 27 laps, finished second ahead of Yeley, Josh Wise and Aaron Fike.

Bobby East of Brownsburg, Ind. captured Saturday night's 40-lap "Old Pueblo Classic" USAC Western Sprint Car race at Tucson, leading all 40 laps in his Power Stroke Diesel Beast/Ford to beat Greg Taylor and A.J. Fike.

Michael Lewis of Noblesville, Ind. locked up the USAC Western Sprint Car Championship with his fifth-place finish, while Steve Paden of Downey, Calif. earned his initial USAC Western Midget Car Championship after finishing eighth in the Midget feature.

The 2003 USAC oval-track racing season concludes next Thursday night, November 27, with the 63rd Mopar "Turkey Night Grand Prix" tripleheader at Irwindale, Calif. The USAC National/Western Midget Car 100-lapper will be accompanied by a 40-lap USAC Western Sprint race and a 20-lap USAC California Ford Focus Midget Car race.
