BNT V8s: Andy Knight Manfeild Park preview

KNIGHT RETURNS TO HAPPY HUNTING GROUND

Round 5 of the 2009/2010 BNT V8s Championship takes Christchurch driver Andy Knight to one of his happiest hunting grounds - Manfeild Park - this weekend.

Looking back over Knight's motor racing career it is the Manfeild circuit in Feilding that has provided him with the most wins, most pole positions and a good share of lap records over the years. Of course it was also the scene of one of his biggest wins, the 2008 New Zealand Grand Prix title. Since then the 23-year-old Cantabrian has moved into the BNT V8s Championship and he is compiling an impressive season in his Radio Live Falcon that sees him running near the front of the highly competitive championship field each weekend.

"Manfeild has always been the track where I have had the most success," said Andy recently. Even though the results didn't go our way there last year in our first season with the V8 we were reasonably fast there. This weekend we will be looking to move forward one more step. We want three good races. At most of the rounds this year we have have two good races and we have not scored so well in the other."

Testing at the 3 kilometre circuit in the Manawatu takes place at 10.15am and 2.05pm on Saturday prior to the three-part knockout qualifying format due to commence at 3.40pm.

On Sunday Knight and the Radio Live Falcon will contest three races. The first is over 12 laps at 9.55am, the second also of 12 laps duration follows at 12.55pm while the final race is from a reverse grid start over 22 laps. That race is timed to start at 4.00pm on Sunday afternoon.

Knights campaign in the 2009/2010 BNT V8s Championship is supported by Radio Live, Milwaukee Power Tools, John Jones Steel, Century Yuasa and the Latimer Hotel.
