HEPBURN ATTRACTS UNWANTED ATTENTION
Timaru driver John Hepburn summed up his last outing of the 2009/2010 BNT V8s Championship at Taupo Motorsport Park this weekend quite simply. "There were three races and we got taken out four times." In the heavy traffic of the BNT V8s Championship it is very easy to get caught up in someone elses accident or misfortune but Hepburn seemed unable to escape the unwanted attention as he contested the final round of the championship in the Classic Hits Timaru Commodore at the Taupo circuit.
"To be fair," said Hepburn, "we didn't have a good handling car all weekend and that meant we qualified back in the pack."
The incidents meant that John failed to finish two of the three races, a disappointing end to a series that has delivered some good pace but not a lot of luck for the former motorcycle and truck champion. However when luck has been on his side Hepburn has shown plenty of his undoubted speed. At the fourth round of the championship at Timaru he had his best day of the series when he secured two top ten placings in testing conditions.
The next race outing for Hepburn and the Classic Hits Timaru Commodore comes at the non-championship Trophy Event at the Hamilton 400 from 16-18 April. Hamilton was the scene of another top performance by Hepburn last season and John is looking forward to returning there.
John Hepburn's campaign in the BNT V8s Championship is supported by Classic Hits Timaru, Timaru Metal Recyclers, Timaru Signs & Graphix, Paul Smith Earthmoving, Petrie Mayman Clark, Robinsons Auto Dismantlers, Blastcraft, Auto Gas, Scarlett Hydraulics, Pit Stop Otahuhu, Barchetta Pleasurecraft, Ashley Electronics, The Front Store, Pope Print, Shaun Breen Plumbing and Power Farming.
