Adelaide's first V8 Supercar Team announced

An announcement was made today outlining the launch of South Australia's first ever V8 Supercar Team.

Team Dynamik will campaign the 2003 thirteen-event series from their Team Headquarters in Adelaide.

Principals of the new team at Birrana are well known motor racing identity and successful Adelaide businessman Malcolm Ramsay, along with Kieran Wills also very experienced in motor sport and with successful business interests in New Zealand, said today the team will be a very serious competitor in the 2003 series

Malcolm Ramsay's pedigree within motor sport goes back a long way, from driving, construction and team ownership, with major success in all aspects of the sport.

Team Dynamik will campaign a two-car VY Holden Commodore team with factory support said Mr Ramsay. Construction of the cars is well underway and to date seven key staff appointments have been made.

This will possibly be the greatest challenge in my long career of motor sport, but I am convinced it is attainable he said.

Being South Australia's only V8 Supercar Team provides us with a unique opportunity to develop local initiatives supporting the Adelaide community with a particular emphasis on youth development and community schemes.

We are taking this challenge very seriously indeed said Malcolm, we have been overwhelmed by the ongoing support we have received from racing associated Businesses, Local Business and Fans alike.

Malcolm is a highly regarded motor sport identity not only in Australia but also recognised internationally, largely through his contribution to the development of the Formula Holden category. Respected by competitors, manufacturers, sponsors and race fans alike, Malcolm brings a level of professionalism to motor sport rarely seen. Malcolm's career commenced at age 16, moving through sedans to sports car racing. Successes included winning sports racing car events in Malaysia, Singapore and Australia (Elfin 300), with second placing in the Malaysian Grand Prix, Penang Grand Prix and Singapore Grand Prix.

Malcolm has successfully campaigned in most motor sport categories including:
* Elfin Mono, 600
* Elfin Repco Brabham 2.5L in Gold Star
* Elfin Repco Waggott 2.0L Waggott engine
* Torana XU1 (Series Production) culminating in sixth place at Bathurst

* Holden HQ fitted with a 5.0 litre Repco V8 (1972Australian Touring Car
Championship) * Malcolm also gained several second placing's in the Touring Car Championship. (Jane, Moffatt, Geoghegan era)

Malcolm commenced building the first Birrana prototype F2 car in 1972, gaining second place in the ^Ì72 championship. Birrana cars won the F2 Championship in ^Ì73,'74 and ^Ì75 in the hands of Leo Geoghegan (works car) and Geoffrey Brabham.

In 1974 Malcolm set about developing the Birrana Engineering business recognised for its technical innovation and sound financial management. With branches in McKay, Perth, The Hunter Valley and Head Office in Adelaide.

Birrana service the mining industry in the heavy haulage, dump truck area and have just released an active suspension for dump trucks. Birrana has a full compliment of CNC machines, gear-cutting and heat treatment, with an active engineering department of 6 mechanical engineers and two CAD draftsmen, expertise in mechanical design and finite element analysis.

Malcolm retired from day to day operations at age 50, but still retains an interest as Chairman of the Board and major shareholder. In 1993 Malcolm formed Birrana Racing in Formula Brabham, later Formula Holden. Over the next eight years Birrana Racing achieved what few Racing Teams have done in totally dominating a class and providing a training ground for some of Australia's biggest racing stars today.

Birrana Racing has won the Formula Holden Australian Drivers Championship seven times. During this time Malcolm has mentored and provided the racing equipment to drivers including:

Paul Stokell
Jason Bright
Simon Wills

In 2001 with Ricky Kelly driving, the Birrana team won all 16 races, culminating in a first, second and third in race one at the final at Winton. Combined with the dominant win in the 2001 Konica Championship, it created a unique double that has not been seen in Australian motor sport.

Since retiring from the Presidency of Formula Holden after seven years service Malcolm has developed a close friendship and mutual passion with Kieran Wills in developing "Team Dynamik", a premier V8 Supercar team.

This teams usual hallmarks of careful planning, innovative thinking and professionalism have combined to form one of the most exciting business strategies together with proven commercial and racing success, yet to be seen in Australian Motor Sport.
