Ambrose off to slow start in V8SC comeback
Marcos Ambrose is having to learn the new cars, re-learn old tracks, and forget old habits in his return home.
Marcos Ambrose's highly anticipated return to V8 Supercars has finally arrived and so far, his weekend has been solid, but sluggish. Of course, that's to be expected after such a lengthy absence but the Aussie has been slowly picking up the pace every time he gets back behind the wheel.
Placing 23rd, 22nd, and 24th in the three Friday practice sessions is nothing to brag about, but the improvement in lap times is. On the savage street circuit, Ambrose kept the fenders of his Falcon clean and ran the entire day without incident.
He started off today's action with a 1:30.3366, improving a tenth to a 1:30.2485 in the second session, and finally dropping down to 1:29.559 at the conclusion of the third practice. The 38-year-old hopes for a mid-pack qualifying effort as he continues to get acclimated with these nex-generation cars.
