SBR FALCON TO START EIGHTH IN BOB JANE T-MARTS 1000

STONE Brothers Racing's Marcos Ambrose and Paul Weel will start from eighth position in tomorrow's Bob Jane T-Marts 1000.

Ambrose clocked a time of two minutes and 10.101 seconds around the 2.61km, but missed the chance to clock a pole-winning time after oil was dumped on the track by Glenn Seton a lap before with a broken oil line.

The track improved as more cars went out for their one-lap screamers and Mark Skaife eventually took pole with a 2:08.8278 lap from Ford driver John Bowe who notched a 2:09.0988.

Although he was disappointed with his lap, Ambrose did improve from 11th to eighth in the shootout.

"Not every day can be a great day," said Ambrose.

"The lap was pretty poor by my own standards.

"We have been chasing the car all weekend and think we had a chance to grab pole.

"I carried too much speed through McPhillamy, went wide into the sand trap and got the tyres dirty.

"After that I tried to be a hero at every corner and mucked them up.

"I think we are probably lucky to be eighth, but we will have a good race car and will get on with the job tomorrow."

There will be a warm-up tomorrow morning from 7.15 to 7.35am and the race is set to start at 10am.

Network Ten will provide a full race day coverage from 7am to 5pm tomorrow.
