Double Duty for Wall at Bathurst 1000

New South Welshman David Wall is set for a busy weekend at the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 this weekend.

In addition to continuing his fight for the Australian GT Championship, David will again be joining Wilson Security Racing in the V8 Supercar Bathurst 1000 race on Sunday.

As with the first of this year's endurance races, David will be running in the #333 Wilson Security Racing Ford with Leanne Tander, only this weekend their car has been 'pinked'.

The whole Wilson Security Racing team have gone pink for a cause in an effort to generate understanding about the importance of breast awareness among young women and the invaluable role McGrath Breast Care Nurses play in providing support for families experiencing breast cancer.

The team will be renamed Team McGrath and will run new car designs, helmets and race suits, with merchandise to be sold to raise funds for the Foundation.

"Racing for Team McGrath at Bathurst makes this weekend even more important. The work the McGrath Foundation does is amazing, and I hope that by running this livery we are able to make a contribution," said David.

"Glenn McGrath said that one of his wife Jane's favourite sayings used to be that it takes a real man to wear pink and I think that in the masculine world of motorsport is a great place to see it!"

David had a solid run in the L&H 500 at Phillip Island last month, learning a lot about the team and the car, and is looking forward to racing in his first Bathurst 1000.

The biggest obstacle David and the team have encountered has been the significant height difference between David and his co-driver Leanne. David was left battered and bruised after the race weekend at Phillip Island and the team have made a few changes to the seat in an effort to improve the situation. David will also have a new seat insert for this weekends race in an attempt to reduce the discomfort he experiences.

"Having to swap the seat inserts during the driver change will add a few extra seconds during the pit stop, but I am sure I will be able to make up the time during the race if I am more comfortable. At Phillip Island I really struggled towards the end of my second stint with my leg going numb!

"I am looking forward to returning for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 and racing there in the Team McGrath V8 Supercar."

In David's second role over the weekend, he will be competing in his Porsche in the Australian GT Championship. David has a commanding lead in the championship, with a lead of 68.5 points over second placed James Koundouris and he is keen to pull out an even greater lead in the support races held at Bathurst.

"It is going to be very hectic jumping between my Porsche and the V8, but I am looking forward to it!" said David

"The cars are very different so I don't think it will be too difficult to swap between the two."

David's weekend will kick off at 8:15am Thursday morning with Australian GT practice. V8 practice kicks off at 12:40pm later that afternoon.

For those at the track, look out for David at the Biante marquee, where you will be able to purchase WSR bonnets, both normal and pinked, on Friday at 12:30pm, at the WSR merchandise truck at 12:50pm on Friday and at the Team McGrath pinked merchandise marquee at 1:00pm on the Saturday.
