Defending champion Garth Tander has two million reasons to go back to back in this years' race, as he is the only driver that can win the Mother Grand Slam, Australia's richest motorsport prize. After taking the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide earlier this year, he has to follow up with wins in tomorrow's 1000, then back that up with the Indy race on the Gold Coast in two weeks time and take the last race of the championship at the Sydney Telstra 500. Tander said, "The Mother Grand Slam initiative is fantastic and it's something that is unbelievably hard to win, no different to tennis or golf grand slams"
V8 Supercars celebrated their 20 millionth fan today, with the lucky Sydney fan winning a Sony 3D television, PlayStation game console and tickets to the Sydney Telstra 500.
