March 19, 2003 - Ford Performance Racing (FPR) team driver Glenn Seton, the most successful Ford driver competing in V8 Supercars, will start a new era behind the wheel when he steps into his Ford Credit FPR Falcon at the Clipsal 500 in Adelaide this weekend.

After almost twenty-five years of motor racing competition, 20 of them spent in professional Touring Cars / V8 Supercars, 37 year old Seton will compete this weekend using a full face helmet for the first time in his career.

Seton is the last V8 Supercar driver to ditch the traditional open face helmet for a new full face helmet design, changing a look that millions of television viewers and race fans had become accustomed to while riding with the star Ford driver during his 162 Championship races via on board cameras.

This season represents an exciting time of change for Seton - his first as professional driver after a remarkable 15 years a team owner / driver. It is fitting that the double V8 Supercar Champion approaches his debut FPR season using a completely new helmet - the traditional signature for every motor racing driver.

"The main reason why I changed to a full face helmet was for improved safety and for the filtration of racing fumes that these helmets provide. Now is as good a time as any for a change - its a new season and a new Ford team, so what better time to use a new helmet," Seton said.

Race fans and television viewers will only be able to see the eyes of their favourite Ford racer in 2003 during on board footage due to the addition of this new helmet.

Seton's helmet design incorporates the double V8 Supercar Champion's long term orange, blue and white colour scheme in a new format to suit the full face helmet design. This will be a sight that fans of the blue oval will gradually get used to after more than two decades of Seton's former trademark open face helmet.

FPR will be working hard to ensure that Seton's competitors will get a regular rear view of this helmet over the course of the season!
