ARNIE'S READY - ARE YOU?

Just 11 days until the 2010 Armor All Gold Coast 600, October 22-24

Only 11 days now remain until the heroes of the V8 Supercars, their star international co-drivers and 16 International and Australian music acts hit the streets of the Gold Coast for the Armor All Gold Coast 600.

With time running out, tickets are selling fast for what has been called the 'Gold Coast's biggest party' and 'potentially the greatest touring car event ever seen'.

Arnie the Armor All Viking will certainly be there, with his bags packed for the sunny Gold Coast as the V8 Supercars raced around Mount Panorama for the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 at the weekend.

Armor All Gold Coast 600 General Manager Shane Howard urged those who hadn't yet made their arrangements to attend the three day, three night festival to make their move quick.

"We have reports of hotels nearing capacity including the Surfers Paradise Marriot Hotel, businesses like Shuck at Main Beach are revving up for big trading periods and construction is nearing completion for the street circuit," said Howard.

"Essentially, the entirety of the Gold Coast is gearing up for this event, which we are confident will be the party of the year, so if you haven't got your ticket yet I can't encourage you enough to get online at ticketek.com.au and secure your pass to this must see festival of entertainment."

The Armor All Gold Coast 600, in a continuance of V8 Supercar's highly successful Rock N Race format, will see the Gold Coast treated to non-stop entertainment over the three days and nights of October 22-24.

Each day will see 18 international stars paired with the 29 home-grown heroes of the V8 Supercar Series taking to the concrete jungle of the Gold Coast street circuit, with the skills of these drivers - some of the best in the world - to truly be put to the test by the Aussie V8 Supercar machines and their unique style.

When the checkered flag has flown at the end of each day, 600 Sounds presented by Hard Rock will fire up each night at the Broadwater Parklands entertainment precinct, bringing together a wide range of musical acts across a whole range of genres.

"What we have here for October 22-24 is so unique, with the variety and high caliber of drivers, musical acts and all round entertainment all together for one big event," said Howard.

"Drivers like Formula One World Champion Jacques Villeneueve, three time Indy 500 winner Helio Castroneves, North America's most successful road course racer and 1997 Gold Coast winner Scott Pruett and Indy 500 winner, Gold Coast winner and reigning IndyCar champion Dario Franchitti just to name a few.

"Joining these guys on track will be our V8 Supercar heroes, plus the Australian Legends racers, V8 Utes, Formula Fords and MINIs, the XXXX Angels, the Dreamworld Family Zone and lots more.

"Add that to a musical line up including acts like the Beach Boys, Baby Animals, Ian Carey, Empire of the Sun, Sneaky Sound System and the Potbelleez, and you have a party that can't be missed, at just $136 for a all inclusive three day, three night event ticket."

Sport Minister Phil Reeves said the new track configuration will test the drivers and provide fans with some great viewing.

"By the time the chequered flag is waved, they will be talking about this event on the Gold Coast as one of the greats," Mr Reeves said.

"It's got everything - the natural attractions of the Gold Coast and great entertainment.

"Rain or shine, it's going to be spectacular for fans, great for the drivers, but a real rev-up for the Gold Coast economy."

The Armor All Gold Coast 600 will take place from next Friday on the streets of the Gold Coast from Friday October 22 to Sunday October 24.

The event will feature 18 international drivers alongside the V8 Supercar stars by day, and 16 International and Australian acts by night, in a continuance of V8 Supercars' highly successful Rock 'n' Race format.

Tickets are now on sale for the Armor All Gold Coast 600, with Friday admission tickets starting from just $49 and three day passes from just $136, with each ticket providing admission to not only the day's racing but also the same night's entertainment line-up at 600 Sounds.
