SUPPORT CATEGORIES REV UP FOR GOLD COAST'S BIGGEST PARTY

Just 22 days remain until the Armor All Gold Coast 600 gets the party started on the streets of the Gold Coast across October 22-24, and the official support categories of the event were in pit lane today to celebrate.

The Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series, the Hertz MINI Challenge and the Australian Formula Ford Championship will all be on track across the three day, three night entertainment festival.

After a three year absence the 32 door-to door racing machines of the 2010 Yokohama V8 Ute Racing Series - protected by Armor All, will revisit the glamour circuit, with some star entries sure to entertain.

Always a hit with Gold Coast fans, the championship will host its penultimate round on the Gold Coast, with driver standings closer than ever. The line-up includes former NRL player and 2009 V8 Ute Champion Jack Elsegood, 2007 Gold Coast event winner Grant Johnson and local hero Ryal Harris.

The 2010 Hertz MINI Challenge - delivered by Pizza Capers, makes a return to beach-side circuit for the second year running for round six of its eight round series, after some toe-to-toe tussling throughout the weekend last year.

The remodified 2.96 kilometre street circuit is set to benefit the pocket rocket racers to the tune of some tight-fought MINI racing. With a high-class entry list including Paul Stokell, Chris Alajajian and local favourite Glenn Seton, the category is poised to showcase some exciting racing through the narrow street circuit.

Also contesting its sixth round for the year is the Australian Formula Ford Championship after a healthy break in the series since previously racing at Townsville back in July.

While Chaz Mostert leads the way in the series, three youngsters' nip at his heals and will be looking to close the gap in the championship race with just three rounds remaining in this open-wheel category.

The Armor All Gold Coast 600 will take place on the streets of the Gold Coast from Friday October 22 to Sunday October 24, with just 28 days now remaining until Queensland's premier motorsport event comes to life.

The event will feature 18 international drivers alongside the V8 Supercar stars by day, and 16 International and Australian acts by night, in a continuance of V8 Supercars' highly successful Rock 'n' Race format.

Tickets are now on sale for the Armor All Gold Coast 600, with Friday admission tickets starting from just $49 and three day passes from just $136, with each ticket providing admission to not only the day's racing but also the same night's entertainment line-up at 600 Sounds. Visit ticketek.com.au or call 132 849 for more information or to purchase.
