Howard Racing Aim to Make Mark on 2004 Konica Minolta Series

Konica Minolta V8 Supercar team Howard Racing today announced they will launch a three-car assault on the 2004 series.

Accompanying existing Howard Racing drivers Mark Howard and Tim Gordon will be experienced V8 Supercar driver Cameron McLean who will occupy Howard Racing's number 27 car for the entire Konica Minolta Series.

McLean comes to Howard Racing with a vast amount of experience including four full season's in the V8 Supercar Championship Series and numerous Bathurst starts completing co-driving duties with leading Championship teams including Kmart Racing, Dick Johnson Racing and Garry Rogers Motorsport.

McLean worked on a consultancy basis for Howard Racing in 2003 and was immediately impressed with the level of professionalism and competitiveness.

"Howard Group and Weathered Howe have been able to put this great package together to get me back into full time V8 Supercar racing and a chance to compete in the 2004 Konica Minolta Series," McLean said.

"I have been very impressed from what I have seen so far and really looking forward to putting the Howard Racing/Weathered Howe Falcon in a competitive position after the first round at Wakefield Park next weekend."

Howard Racing's Team Manager Warren Davis said the team will be aiming for a top three position for McLean by the final round of the championship..

"We have some good experience behind us now with the two cars that we ran in the 2003 series," Davis said.

"The plan last year was to set-up the correct team infrastructure for this season and now we have the third car running it should put us in a good position to be really competitive this year."

The team goes into the first Konica Minolta V8 Supercar round at Wakefield Park, Goulburn with renewed confidence.

"We have a group of experienced staff onboard this year and with the assistance of top engine builder Craig Hasted from Craigar Performance, who is assisting Howard Racing exclusively this year, we are very optimistic of how our year will go" Davis said.

You can catch all of the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series action at Wakefield Park on February 21-22. Tickets are available for purchase at the gate.
