The Adelaide 500, colloquially known as Clipsal, made its first appearance on the Supercars calendar in 1999 as a way of reviving the street circuit that hosted Australia's round of the Formula 1 World Championship between 1985 and 1995.

To celebrate this year's 20th running of the event, organisers have assembled a field of 20 historic Supercars – one from each year the 500 has run – which will make up a display and partake in what are being described as 'spirited' demonstration runs across the weekend.

“The passion of Supercars fans in Adelaide is unparalleled and we are very excited to bring them a rare collection of race cars to celebrate 20 years of a successful and iconic event," said Adelaide 500 General Manager Nathan Cayzer.

“The exhibition is a tribute to our history. It is the first time these cars have ever been assembled and it will no doubt become a must-see feature for all race-goers this March."

One of the cars involved will be the Dick Johnson Racing Ford raced by Will Davison between 2006 and 2008, which is now owned by Team 18 boss and former part DJR owner Charlie Schwerkolt.

“The Adelaide 500 has been an integral part of the Supercars Championship and my career for many years. It’s an incredible circuit and has seen some dramatic races over the years,” Davison said.

“Bringing this collection of cars together is an excellent way to celebrate the 20th anniversary and I have no doubt that the fans will love it. I can’t wait to get involved.”

Further announcements regarding which cars will feature in the celebrations are set to follow between now and the event.
