Team IntaRacing take vital step towards competition

Just months after forming, Australia's newest V8 Supercar team, Team IntaRacing has reached another milestone with the team completing their first ever test day at Queensland Raceway yesterday. The new team has been established from the ground up with driver, Marcus Marshall and Team Manager, Keith Evers investing thousands of hours to create a team that would be ready to race in just a matter of weeks. Everything from building the state-of-the-art workshop, recruiting staff, purchasing vital equipment and designing the team look had to be finalised before the team got to turn a wheel on track. Marshall, who only unveiled his Access Cash sponsored Falcon a week ago said the test day was the first opportunity the team had to work together in an on track capacity ahead of the opening round of the 2009 V8 Supercar Championship, the Clipsal 500, in Adelaide next weekend.

"Being a new team and getting to where we are now and in a position where everything is running and operational is a fantastic effort and a real testament to the crew who have dedicated many days and sleepless nights making sure we are ready to hit the track," Marshall said. "Going into the test day, we were all a bit worried about the weather with Cyclone Hamish pounding Queensland so we kicked off early in the morning and were able to run in a number of components before lunchtime.

"Once the bedding in process was complete, we had our first chance to drive the car in anger but then it started raining and we had a few small issues with the electronics. Once these were rectified we ran the car until dark despite the weather conditions," Marshall concluded.Team IntaRacing Manager, Keith Evers said the test day provided the team with the on-track simulation necessary for the grueling opening round of the series.

"Overall I was fairly happy with how the test day went, we got all the tasks completed which we set out to achieve and everything on the car has been run in for the next three races," Evers said. "The car ran very well all day and we were able to stay out on track until dark. Marcus [Marshall] was comfortable in the car and I am extremely happy about that.

"From a team perspective the day was extremely valuable as we were able to simulate race track situations. It was also a great to boost to the gelling process as the team have never worked together before."

Team IntaRacing will hit the grid for their first competitive race next weekend at the first round of the 2009 V8 Supercar Series in Adelaide.
