In what was the first bit of on-track action for the Supercars at the Ipswich circuit, Le Brocq finished up 0.2s clear of the field in Cam Waters’s #6 PRA Ford. His best time came relatively late in the running, Le Brocq jumping to P1 with three minutes left with a 1m11.041s.

“I’m adapting pretty well, and [the team] have been awesome; they’ve helped me understand exactly what I need to do to drive this car fast,” said Le Brocq. “It’s going pretty well at the moment.”

Volvo GRM’s James Golding was second fastest in the #34 entry, having steadily improved throughout the final third of the 30-minute session. He first popped up near the top eight minutes from the end with a 1m11.666s which put him P4, before quickly improving to a 1m11.572s.

He then banked a 1m11.250s on his final lap of the session to grab P2.

Tony D’Alberto finished up third fastest, having sat on top of the times for the majority of the session. He went fastest in the #17 Penske Ford inside the first 10 minutes, his 1m11.253s good enough to hold on right up until Le Brocq went quicker right at the end.

Steve Richards was fourth fastest in Craig Lowndes’s Triple Eight Commodore, ahead of Macauley Jones who put the #21 Brad Jones Racing Commodore in fourth right at the flag.

David Wall was fifth quickest in Scott McLaughlin’s Volvo, while Dean Fiore was both seventh fastest and 23rd fastest – having shook down Dale Wood’s #96 Nissan at the beginning of the session before getting down to business in his usual ride, the Michael Caruso’s #23 Altima.

Garry Jacobson – making his main series debut in Chaz Mostert’s Prodrive Racing Ford – was eighth quickest, ahead of Cameron McConville (#222 LD Motorsport Commodore) and Andrew Jones (#8 BJR Commodore).
