IRWIN RACING CO-DRIVER READY FOR LE MANS 24-HOUR

IRWIN Racing's endurance driver David Brabham is ready for this weekend's 24-hour Le Mans race.

Brabham, along with American Le Mans Series (ALMS) team mate Marino Franchitti, will be joined by Le Mans specialist Marco Werner in the Highcroft Racing entry.

While Brabham will be vying for his fourth consecutive Le Mans victory (he won in the GT1 competition for Aston Martin in 2007 and 2008 before securing overall victory for Peugeot last year), Highcroft Racing is making its debut in the French classic.

Brabham is the current leader of the American Le Mans Series having clinched back to back victories at Long Beach and Laguna Seca, and Highcroft Racing is leading the newly combined ALMS LMP1/LMP2 points championship.

David Brabham Quotes

On racing at Le Mans:

"I'm not sure if I can pinpoint one particular reason why I love Le Mans but I always look forward to going there. The history, the atmosphere, the track itself, the competitors - everything is really special. It is a very difficult to describe - it is a race that you really have to experience it to understand what makes it so special. It is certainly a highlight of my year and I am really looking forward to going there with Highcroft Racing. It will be the first time for the team at Le Mans, but I told the guys at Laguna that we are now ready to go to this race. For several years we have been putting together such a great team and we have grown into a squad that is now ready to perform really well at Le Mans."

On Highcroft Racing competing at Le Mans:

"A lot of people in Europe probably don't know that much about Highcroft and I'd like to think people will be pleasantly surprised by what they see. Duncan runs a very professional outfit - they look good, they act good and they perform exceptionally well. We have had to raise our game to do battle with Penske in recent years and last season's battle with de Ferran was just as intense. It has been a great journey for us as a team and now we're ready for Le Mans with a car we know very well. Myself and Marco have been here many times and won and know what it takes to do the job here and Marino has continued to impress every time he gets in the car. We need to do what we do at any other race track to concentrate on every single aspect of the preparation."

On the Race:

"The LMP2 class will be tough but the biggest challenge for us will actually be ourselves and the race overall. We have to dot the "I's" and cross the "T's" like we say before every race in the ALMS. If we can do that here we will be looking good. We don't know a lot about the European teams and they don't know a lot about us so there will be a lot to learn. We've headed to Europe with a perfect scenario after two wins and we lead the championship in the US. We're now going into new territory but we do so with a lot of confidence that we can do the job and that is important. I'm very proud of the team because they have done so well and now we have an even bigger challenge ahead but I am confident they can get the job done."

The 2010 Le Mans 24-hour race starts at 3pm on Saturday, June 12, and concludes at 3pm on Sunday, June 13 (French local time).

Brabham will partner Alex Davison in the IRWIN Racing Ford Falcon at the L&H 500 (Phillip Island, September 10-12), the Supercheap Auto 1000 (Bathurst, October 7-10) and the Armor All 600 (Gold Coast, October 22-24).
