ALEX DAVISON STRETCHES THE LEGS OF THE ALL NEW IRWIN RACING FORD

Alex Davison has completed his first full day aboard the IRWIN Racing Ford Falcon FG V8 Supercar at the official pre-season test day for the V8 Supercar Championship Series at Queensland Raceway outside Ipswich today.

Designed, manufactured and campaigned by three-time V8 Supercar Championship winning outfit, Stone Brothers Racing, the IRWIN Racing FG Falcon never missed a beat as Davison worked through a detailed program.

The day was not all about setting the fastest time, rather ensuring Davison was comfortable in the car as well as building his technical working relationship with his race engineer Wes McDougall and the rest of the IRWIN Racing team.

In the first two hours of the day Davison set the ninth fastest time of the 18 cars in attendance. Some adjustments to the car brought a quicker time in the second two-hour segment as Davison improve to fifth for that session and seventh overall for the day.

Davison along with the other top teams didn't improve their times in the afternoon as intermittent showers took the life out of the track. Although frustrated with the ever-changing weather, the IRWIN Racing team was pleased with the day's proceedings and importantly feel fully prepared for the opening round, the Clipsal 500 on the streets of Adelaide next week (19-22 March).

IRWIN RACING QUOTES

ALEX DAVISON - Driver IRWIN Racing #4

"Today was the first time I had ever driven a brand new V8 Supercar and have all the attention focussed on me. Overall the day in the IRWIN Racing Falcon was good, but clearly the weather did make it frustrating at times. We ran on old tyres that had been sitting on the shelves for over three months, then when we went to put the fresher set on and the heavens opened! There were plenty of positives to come out of the day, but we are very competitive people and we will continue to work on some minor things so that we are in a strong position for the Clipsal 500."

ROSS STONE - Team Principal IRWIN Racing #4

"I was very pleased with how the team worked today and feel we are on the right track with the new car heading to Adelaide. The weather was very strange as it was hard to anticipate when the rain was going to come, so our times were not a true indication of where we are at. It was our first full test at the track with Alex in the IRWIN Racing car and we made some great progress throughout the day, which I'm sure will further improve next week in Adelaide."
