Howard Racing Now Equal Second in Championship

Howard Racing - BreakFree V8 Konica -Minolta entry car 27 driven by Cameron McLean although having a shocker in race 2 of today's championship round has catapulted the team into equal second on the championship points table.

McLean experienced brake problems with the car in both practice and qualifying sessions yesterday, with the problems rectified in time for today's Race 1.

However McLean experienced tyre problems, which again cost him valuable time, finishing in 7th position in the first of today's three - race event.

Race Two's reverse grid again created carnage for several teams, with no less than six entires registering a DNF.

McLean in the Howard Racing Break-Free AU Falcon car 27 being on the receiving end of some heavy damage inflicted by Luke Youlden in the Supercheap Falcon, forcing McLean into the pits to replace the front bar.

"You have to question some driver's behaviour in the reverse grid events," said McLean.

"Some of them require tuition in moving from Go-Kart events to Saloon - Car racing, you don't just aim and hit every competitor that happens to be close to you, " commented McLean.

McLean went on to finish Race 2 in a disappointing 20th position after the incident.

Race 3, saw more of the style of racing that McLean's known for, starting in 13th position, carefully working his way up through the field to 4th position for the final race of the day. With accumulated championship points now positioning McLean in equal second position with Andrew Jones each with 577 points, just behind Luke Youlden, on top of the table with 661 points.

The other two Hoard Racing entries also encountered a mixed round today with Aaron McGill driving the Howard Racing - Dux Hot Water entry, car 83 finishing Race 1 in 22nd position, but performing well in Race 2 to bring the car home in 9th position, with Race 3 seeing McGill bring the car home in 19th spot.

Team owner Mark Howard driving the Team's third entry, the Weathered & Howe entry car 37 also had mixed results in the three race event today, finishing the first race this morning in 26th spot, whilst Race 2 saw Howard improve by six positions and finished in 16th position.

Race 3 saw Howard drop back several placing's, to finish in 21st position.

"I'm very happy with the team members achievements this weekend," said Howard.

"Particularly with Cameron, now positioned equal second in the championship, that's a great boost for the team."

"I make no bones about it, I'm here to learn and gain experience and I feel I'm improving on my previous performance with each round, however in saying that it will take sometime for me to attain Cameron's experience and standard of racing".

"We all look forward to Round 5 of the Konica - Minolta championship at Queensland Raceway, July 2 - 4, which will be run as a support event in conjunction with the V8 Supercars event," - said Howard.
