Adelaide Konica Minolta V8 Supercars Ready For Battle at Winton

Adelaide based Rupprecht Motorsport continue their campaign in the Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series this weekend. Winton Raceway, near Benalla in Central Victoria plays host to Round 3 of the Series.

The Clipsal 500 round was eventful, but successful. "When it counted, there were some great results on the track", said Team Director, Ralf Rupprecht "After Round two, Adam Wallis is in 8th position and Phil Scifleet is just out of the ten in 11th spot, so we are looking to keep improving this weekend at Winton".

Adelaide based driver, Adam Wallis, was only planning to drive a few of the rounds, but has taken a seat in car #89 at each event, and will also join the team in Winton.

"That's the way it goes", said Adam Wallis. "The series and the Rupprecht Motorsport team are fairly flexible, so I was only going to drive in a few of the Rounds, but here I am in 8th position after two rounds. I am keen to finish the Series, hopefully on the podium"

Phil Scifleet continues to impress. Some strong finishes have helped him stay in the top half of the series points so far, but consistent results are eluding him due to a few race incidents in the first two Rounds.

"Wakefield Park was very wet on race day and there were plenty of season opening nerves, then there was the challenge of the Adelaide street circuit, so lets hope I can get a good clear run at Winton", said Scifleet. "The Doric Falcon is going very well, so I'm looking forward to a big weekend".

The former Jose Fernandez #55 AU Falcon will again run as the Rupprecht Motorsport 'development' car, and it sees the welcome return of journeyman Stephen White. Stephen has just returned from a successful long-term stint overseas, with his fair share of success in a range of race cars, including Formula 3000. It would be great to continue racing in the UK, but the financial requirements are full on, so I'm now committed to staying in Australia and getting behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar again. Stephen has had some cameo appearances in V8 Supercars, but admits that he needs a lot of track time. "I have driven all sorts of cars all over the world, but there will still be a lot of pressure on me. At least Winton is a bit more forgiving than most circuits, so I should be fine for my first V8 drive for a while." This weekend could see the beginning of a full-time drive in a V8 Supercars.

Ralf Rupprecht is confident about his charges this weekend. "Provided there are no major mishaps there is no reason why we can't have two cars on the podium at Winton."

Round 3 of the 2004 Konica Minolta V8 Supercar Series will commence on Saturday, 17th April with a three-race format at the Winton Raceway on Sunday, 18th April.
